Pauper’s Poem

Paupers Poem

Change into torn rags of humiliation

Beg for love in front of locked gate

Throw pieces of pity into wooden cup

Bounces the hollow sound of shame

Beg for love in front of locked gate

Stranger places a mirror at my feet

Bounces the hollow sound of shame

Reflections of a life without change

Stranger places a mirror at my feet

Pick up the truth and head home

Reflections of a life without change

Accept the looking glass I carry

Pick up the truth and head home

Take off the chains that bind me

Accept the looking glass I carry

Naked freedom for the world to see

Take off the chains that bind me

Sew up the rags of a broken heart

Naked freedom for the world to see

Recognize the echoes of love

Sew up the rags of a broken heart

Place a mirror at a stranger’s feet

Recognize the echoes of love

Pass through the open gate
