In Memory Of …

In Memory OF…

I forgot to light a candle

remembering

how hard we hustled

threw money at chaos

sweat and tears

we were both banished

from the beautiful people

found a bottom

walking separately

east and north

packed synchronicity

pieces of disease in a bag

you healed your broken body

with a working dance

I forgot to light a candle

or play your music

your memorial came instantly

broadcast on Facebook

storytellers paid tribute

your voice touched many

it betrayed me once

worked on forgiveness

over food and football

two broken sojourners

and a candle

  1. You did not need to light a candle as you never forgot the bottom you reached nor the betrayal briefly brushed aside with food and football before heading East and North separately before realizing the beautiful people weren’t all that worthy. You did not need to light a candle to remember. You remembered the sojourn moment of synchronicity and moved on. But you remembered, no candle needed.
